McKesson, the 16th ranking company on the Fortune 500, owns a franchise called Health Mart. There are nearly 5,000 independently owned Health Mart pharmacies nationwide. An added value of being part of the franchise is access to a program called “Local Marketing Support” (LMS) which was developed and administered by TideSmart.

Objective

Provide locally owned Health mart Pharmacies with the tools and resources they need to increase awareness of the Health Mart franchise and keep participating pharmacies top of mind among people in their communities.

Approach

The LMS program, which was developed and administered by TideSmart offers pharmacies marketing tools and services to make marketing easier for their business.

We used a sophisticated marketing automation platform coupled with corporately-managed mobile tours, store events, and other experiences to drive engagement — and to meet the highly-local needs of independently-owned SMBs.

We worked with Health Mart corporate to develop a suite of assets and resources to be made available to local pharmacies, various customizable ad templates, in store signage, giveaway items, and more.

We planned and executed media plans ranging from small radio or digital buys for individual rural pharmacies to multi-tactic annual plans for large groups of pharmacies, called pods. Advertising pod plans typically included, streaming TV, streaming radio, paid social ads, banner ads, and the digital bundle, which was comprised of directory listings, reputation management and social post subscriptions. In markets with a high concentration of locations, traditional TV buys and sponsorships were also part of the annual plan. All creative assets were concepted, produced and trafficked by TideSmart. Each was customized with co-branding for the local pharmacy and in many cases included custom photos.

Results

  • Nearly 200 locally owned Health Mart Pharmacies enrolled in annual media plans last year, resulting in more than 75,000,000 media impressions delivered, with all media planning, ad concepting, ad productions, media buy monitoring and reporting done by the TideSmart team.
  • More than 550 locally owned and operated Health Mart locations subscribed to the digital bundle. On average TideSmart scheduled over 160,000 Facebook posts per year with engagement rates well above industry averages and climbing quarter over quarter.
  • Over 1,000 customizable assets — traditional, digital, branded merch and more
  • Created and maintained a vast toolkit of brand resources including graphics, help articles, and downloadable assets
  • Management of corporately-sponsored “anchor” programs (regional sponsorships, cooperative advertising, mobile tours, radio campaigns, digital campaigns, etc.)
